BBC Sounds First
In mid-2023, I was privileged to win a place on the prestigious BBC Sound First scheme. I composed bespoke music and sound designed a poem for my submission. My piece was chosen by a panel of BBC executives and producers, among them the esteemed sound designer, Benbrick.
My audio piece features a poem by Emily Berry. Inspired by the cadence of her voice, I composed a gentle, drifting piano arrangement to match her words. For ambience, I added a bright and expansive droning pad, breathing life into the composition. I finally integrated some strategic sound effects, ensuring that each element served to enhance the poem without overwhelming the voice.
